Jamaica Bay Cleanup
Join United By Blue, the National Park Service, Jamaica Bay-Rockaway Parks Conservancy, and the Natural Areas Conservancy for a cleanup of Canarsie Pier, part of Jamaica Bay! In celebration of upcoming World Oceans Day, we’ll tackle the trash along the coastline to prevent it from flowing into the Atlantic Ocean.
World Oceans Day is a global celebration of the oceans that unite and support all life. The celebration reminds us of the benefits we receive from the ocean, and calls attention to practices that harm the ocean’s health, like plastics pollution. To do our part to celebrate and protect the oceans, we will work to prevent plastics and other debris from entering the ocean in the first place by cleaning up the shoreline of Jamaica Bay at Canarsie Pier! Canarsie Pier is a historical part of the 75-acre Gateway National Recreation Area located around Jamaica Bay. It provides opportunities for outdoor recreation and for wildlife to flourish. Join us in protecting this natural area, and the ocean that it supports!
United By Blue will provide all cleanup supplies, snacks, and water. We hope to see you for cleanup games, prize giveaways, and a day of enjoying and caring for Canarsie Pier!
