Three staff members in NAC t-shirts look out onto a pond in Central Park

2022 annual report

2022 marked the 10-year anniversary of the Natural Areas Conservancy. In the past decade, the NAC has dedicated itself to preserving New York City’s forests, wetlands, and grasslands.

We are the leading advocate for our city’s natural resources, turning breakthrough research into policies intended to preserve these spaces and connect residents to nature. We are continuing to push for city leadership to confront a legacy of environmental neglect, and are working to prove that natural areas are worthy of protection and investment.
