Bronx Forest Trail Maintainer Training

On Saturday, March 26 join the NAC’s Citywide Trails Team and NYC Parks for a trail maintenance training session in Bronx Park. This event is free and open to the public, and you do not need to be a Super Steward: Trail Maintainer to participate.

During this volunteer event you will learn how to: 1) Identify and assess trail conditions and mitigate trail concerns, 2) Navigate using trail maps, 3) Identify native plants and manage invasive plants along the trails, and 4) Prune native vegetation using basic arboriculture methods.

All participants are encouraged to attend an NYC Parks Super Steward Orientation prior to training. You can register for that training on the NYC Parks’ Super Steward website (there is one training held each month): nycgovparks.org/reg/advanced-stewardship. If you have any questions about this training or would like to learn more about becoming a Super Steward: Trail Maintainer, please contact Josh Otero, the NAC’s Trails Community Engagement Coordinator, at josh.otero@naturalareasnyc.org.
