Jamaica Bay Natural Areas Tour Series: Explore Sunset Cove
Join Dan Mundy, Vice President of the Jamaica Bay Ecowatchers, and learn about Sunset Cove’s unique ecology and the community engagement and civic action that led to its multi-million-dollar restoration. Once fully restored, Sunset Cove will offer a rare chance for the public to get up close and personal with Jamaica Bay’s tidal marshes. Jamaica Bay’s marshes provide important habitat and nesting grounds for migratory bird species and other wildlife, while also protecting our vulnerable shorelines from erosion and storm surge. Take in views of Jamaica Bay’s marsh islands and the NYC skyline while learning about tidal wetlands and the wildlife that depend on them.
Please wear appropriate footwear for a walk, and bring enough water to stay hydrated.
The Jamaica Bay Natural Areas Tour Series is a partnership program between the Natural Areas Conservancy and the Jamaica Bay-Rockaway Parks Conservancy (JBRPC). This program is generously supported by the JBRPC, a project of the Fund for the City of New York.
