SOLD OUT – Jamaica Bay Natural Areas Tour Series: Sunset Kayak Tour of Subway Island
Join Don Riepe, Jamaica Bay Guardian at the American Littoral Society, and Alex Zablocki, Executive Director of the Jamaica Bay-Rockaway Parks Conservancy, for a sunset kayak tour of Jamaica Bay and its iconic marsh islands. Depart from the Community Boathouse at Beach 88th St. and paddle to the southern tip of Subway Island, a popular nesting area and stop-over for year-round and migratory birds. Learn about the unique ecology of Subway Island and the different types of wildlife that call it home. Paddle around Subway Island, part of the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge, while taking in the sunset on the return trip to Beach 88th St. Kayaks generously provided by the Community Boathouse.
18 years of age or older. Registration and waiver required. First come, first served. Bring plenty of water and clothes that can get wet.
