Night for Nature celebrates urban natural areas and the leaders who are making these spaces more resilient and accessible. Join us to help ensure that all people feel welcomed, inspired by, and connected to the natural world.

Show your commitment to nature in NYC by participating as an individual or corporate supporter of the event.

Doors will open at 6:00 pm, and the program will begin at 7:00 pm. The event will end at 9:00 pm, but we hope you will continue to celebrate with us after then as the venue transitions to a cash bar.

2025 Honorees

Eric W. Sanderson is an ecologist, conservationist, and Vice President for Urban Conservation at the New York Botanical Garden, where he also directs the Center for Conservation and Restoration Ecology. He is the author of the bestselling book “Mannahatta: A Natural History of New York City” and is currently working on the five-borough sequel, “Before New York: An Atlas and Gazetteer”. Prior to NYBG, Eric worked at the Wildlife Conservation Society / Bronx Zoo for nearly 25 years. Eric earned a Ph.D. in ecosystem and landscape ecology from UC Davis in 1998. He is a Guggenheim Fellow, a Cullman Fellow at the New York Public Library, a City Island musselsucker, and an Eagle Scout. Eric has been a member of the Natural Areas Conservancy Board since 2013.
