Spring has arrived! And with it, Spring Peepers! These small tree frogs come out of hibernation in the spring for mating season. Male Spring Peepers attract females with their distinct rapid whistling call, which is truly a delight to hear in person! They typically are found in and near vernal ponds, as the females lay eggs underwater. We’ve put together a list of 3 natural areas where you can hear (and maybe glimpse!) Spring Peepers for yourself. Please remember that they are delicate creatures and to be respectful of them and their habitat.

Where to Hear Spring Peepers

Cunningham Park: Vernal Ponds in the SE Preserve

Take the orange trail loop through the southeast preserve for the best chance of hearing Spring Peepers!
