Spring has arrived! And with it, Spring Peepers! These small tree frogs come out of hibernation in the spring for mating season. Male Spring Peepers attract females with their distinct rapid whistling call, which is truly a delight to hear in person! They typically are found in and near vernal ponds, as the females lay eggs underwater. We’ve put together a list of 3 natural areas where you can hear (and maybe glimpse!) Hike the John Muir Trail in the Northeast Woods where historically there have been abundant Spring Peepers!
While you’re out there check out the beautiful spring ephemerals!
