Caring for Urban Nature: Focus on Forested Natural Areas

You are invited to a webinar sponsored by the Natural Areas Conservancy and Yale University.

Fifty-five percent of urban parkland across the United States is natural areas: forests, grasslands, and wetlands. Traditionally, these areas have been under-used and under-managed. Yet, these natural areas are vital to sustaining air and water quality, supporting biodiversity, improving public health, and providing city dwellers with meaningful access to nature.

In this webinar we will give an overview of the innovations in forest restoration and conservation taking place in NYC. We will also introduce a web-based that will be administered through a partnership with the Trust for Public Land. The survey is designed to help us understand and document urban forest management nationwide: best practices, decision-making, resources, and data. The survey will inform the formation of a national network of urban land managers and help us communicate the need for urban conservation to new audiences.

Webinar details will be sent in advance to all registered participants.

This project is made possible with the support from The JPB Foundation and the Ittleson Foundation.
