Green Neighborhoods: Native Seeds and Volunteering in North Shore, Staten Islan
Volunteer with the Stewardship Team in collaboration with the Natural Areas Conservancy for a special North Shore Green Neighborhood event! Participants will remove invasive species from the newly planted forest in Jones Woods Park. But first – Clara Holmes, Seed Collector Coordinator, will discuss her work with The Greenbelt Native Plant Center (GNPC) on Staten Island. GNPC is a 13 acre greenhouse, nursery, and seed bank facility of the NYC Parks that provides locally appropriate seen and plants to projects in all five boroughs. The Mid-Atlantic Regional Seed Bank, a program of the GNPC, aims to ensure protection, conservation, and proper use of the seed resources in the mid-Atlantic region.
