Alley Pond Park City Nature Challenge Guided Hike

The Natural Areas Conservancy (NAC) will host a guided walk through Alley Pond Park’s Oakland Lake and Tulip Trail to explore the diversity of flora and fauna.

Volunteers will learn how to identify these plants and learn how to make iNaturalist observations of any other signs of nature you find along the way. These observations will contribute to the 2025 City Nature Challenge and NYC’s overall ranking during the weekend.

If you are attending, please fill out this volunteer waiver. Note: Every attendee must fill out a waiver. If you have others joining, please ensure they fill out the waiver above as well.

What should you bring:

  • A water bottle
  • Weather appropriate clothing
  • Sturdy, closed toe shoes
  • Smart phone with the app iNaturalist downloaded

Join the NAC Network City Nature Challenge group on iNaturalist. The user with the most observations during City Nature Challenge Weekend will win a small prize.

If for whatever reason you are unable to attend, please cancel your reservation. Space is limited and we want to ensure we can do our best to accommodate those who are interested.

If you have any questions about this event or would like to learn more about the Natural Areas Conservancy, please visit naturalareasnyc.org, @naturalareasnyc on Instagram or contact Trails Volunteer Coordinator, Melissa Rosenthal at melissa.rosenthal@naturalareasnyc.org.
