Creating a Network of Trails for All New Yorkers

Did you know: roughly 350 miles of nature trails exist in New York City? These trails offer visitors a range of outdoor experiences and connect people to urban forests, wetlands, and grasslands. Since 2017, the Natural Areas Conservancy has been working in partnership with NYC Parks to improve the city’s trails and realize their full potential. This spring, the NAC is releasing the first-ever Strategic Trails Plan for New York City, which lays out a vision for the formalization of a citywide trails system, with concrete recommendations to bring that vision to reality.

On Monday, May 17 at 4:00 p.m. join the Natural Areas Conservancy and guest host REI as we present highlights from the Strategic Trails Plan for New York City, introduce members of our Citywide Trails Team, and discuss how we’re working with partners across the city to achieve the ambitious goals of the new plan. We’ll also share where you can go to experience New York City’s trails, and how you can get involved in this groundbreaking work. We thank REI for their continued support of the NAC’s work in New York City’s natural areas and specifically on nature trails across the city.

This event will take place on Zoom and a live Q&A session will take place at the end of the program. Registration is required to attend.
